BETTER LATE THAN NEVER! Aug. 17th was MSTease3K: Electric Boogaloo!

I have been bereft in my duties, and for that I beg your forgiveness!! The last few months have seized me with a profound feeling of apathy. I am slowly coming out of it, so I thought I would right a wrong that has me extremely embarrassed. Last August the 17th was the second iteration of Charm & Glamour Productions‘ burlesque tribute to Mystery Science Theater 3000, and I’m thrilled to report we rocked that mother!

The studly Mr. Arcane and I opened the show as Pearl Forrester and Brain Guy, celebrating that time when loving lovers love, and then suddenly devolving into something about cherry pie, I dunno. (photos by the amazing Casey Campbell Photography!)

Suffice to say it was an amazing evening with some of the best nerdlesque acts I have ever seen! I apologize once again for flaking on you. Sometimes you just have to take a look around yourself and realize you’re in a pretty damn good place.

Am I ever embarrassed!

Holy cow, folks. I was so busy getting ready for this show that I forgot to post about it!! So please accept my sincere apologies for posting late about Get Your Geek On: One Year Anniversary! It was so amazing in so many ways. The best of Portland geeky nerdlesque graced the stage of The Embers Avenue for an amazing evening! I brought my slightly upgraded Prof. Umbridge act to the stage once again, and it was a bona fide hit. Here are the superlative poster (featuring our extremely hot producer Miss Pamela Voorhees), and a shot of Umbridge preparing to whip Hogwarts into shape (photography by Guy Masson). It was truly an honor and a thrill to become part of the GYGO cast! Stay tuned for the next show, coming in January!

Presenting: Rare Vintage Burlesque!

I am pleased as punch to announce my new burlesque venture! My fellow Portland peelers Scarlett Thrustmore, Judy Patootie, Ivana Mandalay, Ophelia Bouche and I have banded together to form the production and performance collective Rare Vintage Burlesque! We are five 40+ and fabulous performers who will be bringing our seasoned naughtiness to the stage each month – and we’ll get you home by bedtime! Part troupe, part production team, and a whole lot of fun, we are living proof that sexy has no expiration date. Please click here for info on our first show, Ladies of a Certain Age, coming up next month! We plan to present a different themed show each month, with special guests and more fun than you can shake a beglittered cane at! Like rare vintage wine, we only get better with age!

I am back, bitches!

Hey all – I am very pleased to let you know that my lumpectomy surgery was a success! I will be starting radiation therapy very soon, and all signs look really really good for a complete recovery. Thank you all so much for your love and support! Please check my schedule page for my upcoming performances next month!

In the meantime, here is my favorite shot from my performance as Red Hot Flo at the Oregon Burlesque Festival in July. Many thanks to Curvygrl (Lisa K. Smith) for this super-cute pic!

Loxie’s Highlights of BurlyCon 2014

  1. Performing in the first night of Peer Reviews and getting some great feedback and compliments from folks I deeply admire and respect.
  2. Getting waltzed around the hallway by Bic Carroll after the second Peer Review. Then when I thought he was reading my Rose City School of Burlesque t-shirt, he said “Oh, I was actually reading your tits.” 😀
  3. Princess Farhana outing me as the creator of the Radio Bastet podcast during her class exploring the relationship between belly dance and burlesque. Later on she took my hand and guided me through some steps (it’s been a helluva long time since I did belly dance).
  4. Having Bettie Blackheart for a roommate. ❤
  5. Enjoying some late-night red wine and snacks with Bettie, Kitten deVille and Bettina May. Like you do.
  6. Getting a big hug from Briq House when she told me I saved her life with my idea of keeping all your accoutrements for an act in one of those giant Zip-Loc bags.
  7. Getting another big hug from Donna Denise, who appreciated all my words of encouragement in the past.
  8. Going green for the Lust in Space ball.
  9. Waxie Moon and Foxy Tann both saying my name out loud in front of huge crowds of people. (bucket list achievement unlocked)

Cannot wait for next year!

Take me to your leader, big boy.

He gave me half his stock…

…to show his – appreciation. The Burlesque Marathong – Out-of-Town Edition in Seattle last Sunday night at the Columbia City Theater was a blast! Thanks to everyone who helped create this fabulous show, especially Iva Handfull and Violet Tendencies! Photo by the marvelous Meneldor Photography!
